Mochi Waffles with Cooked Pears and Apricot Sauce

Cut 2 ripe but firm pears into chunks. Combine in a saucepan with 1/4 cup apple juice and stir over medium heat for 5-8 minutes.
Stir in a 1/4 cup apricot conserves. Set aside. Spoon fruit sauce over Mochi Breakfast Waffles and serve.

There are 2 simple methods to make Mochi Waffles, try either and let us know which one you liked best!

Method # 1

Pre-heat waffle iron on low setting. Cut 1" squares (or strips) of Raisin-Cinnamon, Chocolate Brownie or Cashew-Date Mochi and put a piece in each of the waffle iron sections. You may want to put a final piece in the middle, depending on the size of the iron.

Rest the upper lid on top of the Mochi pieces. When the waffle is ready, the jaws of the iron will have come together and your pieces will be blended into a single waffle. Remove waffle when it is slightly crisp.

Method # 2

For an airier, crunchier waffle, grate 1/2 package of Mochi with a grater. Heat waffle iron, then spread the grated Mochi over the iron to about 1/4" thickness.

Close waffle iron and cool until waffle removes easily from iron. Top with cream cheese, maple syrup and fresh strawberries or peaches. Serve with a hot fruit sauce such as apricot, blackberry or strawberry.
